Eric McPherson, a native of New York, began studying music with Master Drummer Michael Carvin. Eric attended the prestigious Fiorello H. La Guardia high school for the music and arts. He then went on to graduate with honors from The Jackie Mclean institute of the University of Hartford's Hartt School. Eric would work with the legendary saxophonist (Jackie Mclean) for 15 years. He would later go on to work with innovative pianist and composer Andrew Hill. As a result of these apprenticeships, Eric has developed a highly personal creative sense to approach music. Eric has recorded CD's of his own ( Continuum smalls records, and Cause and Effect enja records) and is currently working internationally with his own groups.
In addition to performance, Eric is a professor at the University of Hartfords, Jackie Mclean Institute and teaches with the New School as well as teaching privately and conducting workshops and masterclasses world wide. Spreading the true spirit of modern creative music.
